Sorry for shouting but it makes such an insane difference when people stop hanging their curtain panels right in front of their windows.
Where to hang curtain rod on window.
I want to mount the rod close to the ceiling.
Extend the rod at least 6 10 on either side of the window frame if you have the space so that when the curtains are pushed totally open you can.
Keep in mind that floor length curtain panels come in somewhat standard heights of 84 inches 95 inches 108 inches and 120 inches.
Mounting a curtain rod outside the window frame is the most common orientation of curtain rod brackets.
Michele i haven t found any ideas yet but i m thinking i want to do one long piece all the way across and let the curtains hang between the windows.
A curtain rod usually sets about 4 inches above the window but many people raise the rod even higher to make the room feel taller.
Generally a good rule of thumb is to have the bracket somewhere around 10 12 from the window keeping in mind that the actual rod will extend another couple of inches past that.
A general rule of thumb.
The curtain panels are hanging in front of the wall next to the window not in front of the window which makes it look smaller and blocks light.
Once you know where you want your bracket to sit measure exactly where the two screws should be placed how far from the window in both directions.
To hang you must place drapery pins in the pleat and then hang them on the rod.
A cord allows you to pull the drapes open and closed.
In this room i think that would work.
Another common mistake is not having the rod wide enough on both sides of the window so that your curtains are forced to be hanging partially in your window blocking light and making the window look smaller thus making your room feel smaller.
I will let you know when if i find something.
Panel curtains eyelet curtains and tab top curtains are meant to hang from a plain round rod.
4 move the rod and bracket until the top edge of the curtain fabric is 1 8 inch or less.
I haven t done any investigating but i am thinking i will have to make a custom rod that is long enough.
For wall mounted rods allow at least one to three inches on each side of the window to accommodate an open curtain or as much as six inches on each side of the frame if.
